Floatation therapy: Welcome
Floatation therapy: about

Your wellness is our priority

When was the last time you truly relaxed? We know the hustle and bustle of the everyday can get in the way of your wellbeing, which is why Float Therapy in Wilmslow brings you a whole new way to drift away, clear the mind, and allow your body to unwind. Our floatation tanks, also known as isolation tanks, are designed to switch off the senses so you can focus on your breathing, allow thoughts to drift in and out, and release the tension you're holding on to.

For those clients who suffer with claustrophobia, you may be pleasantly surprised with the amount of space within the i-sopod. However, for added peace of mind, you'll be in control of the opening and closing mechanism at all times - this is a manual lid, so you'll never have to worry about being trapped! - and are welcome to leave this cracked or completely open, if you prefer. Book for yourself or a friend today and we promise, you won't be disappointed.

Customise your experience

Whether this form of relaxation is new to you or you're a seasoned user, we want you to have the very best experience. As we appreciate that this looks different for everyone, the team at Float Therapy will do all they can to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

With this in mind, you'll have full control of the lighting, helping you set the right mood, and will have your choice of music or earplugs, depending on your wishes. We do recommend straying away from music and choosing the earplugs instead, for an extra level of soundproofing and full sensory deprivation, however this is entirely up to you.

Floatation therapy: Services

Everything you need to know before you float:

  • Can I float if I have my period?
We do not recommend floating during your menstrual period due to the possibilities of period leaks. However, you can take the same precautions that you would when you go to a swimming pool.
  • Do I need to bring anything?
We provide all necessities for you including shower gel, towels, earplugs, makeup remover, hairdryers, lotion and more. You will have your own room with a private showering area, also floating nude will give you the best experience, therefore swimsuits will not be required.
  • Can I float if I am pregnant?
Absolutely! Being in the tank mimics the womb, which allows you to deepen your connection with your unborn baby. You can also lay on your back without any pressure, which is definitely a great solution to release your pain. If you have any doubt, please consult your doctor before coming.
  • Can I wear contact lenses?
We recommend you to remove contact lenses before entering into the tank as salt water might run into your eyes, which may cause you discomfort. We provide contact lens case and solution here in the centre.
  • Can I float if I have my hair dyed or a new tattoo?
For the benefit of your hair and the water, please wait until the water runs clear when you wash your hair before coming for a float. Floating and fresh tattoos don’t mix. The time you would need to wait depends on the tattoo (check with your tattoo artist), but we would recommend waiting 4-6 weeks before floating after getting a tattoo.
  • Can I drink alcohol or take drugs and float?
We have a no-drugs or alcohol policy. If you seem to be under the influence of alcohol or any other drug, you won’t be allowed to float that day. This is for your own safety.
  • I just shaved prior to floating. Can I float?
We recommend saving your shave for a non-float day, as the salty water can sting freshly-shaven areas. However, if you do shave on the day, you can cover up wherever you’ve shaved with the Vaseline we provide to reduce irritation and stinging.
  • What if I can't ‘switch off’ whilst floating?
Often, our minds are overactive, so it can be difficult to ‘switch off’ anywhere - inside the pod included! This is totally normal, especially for people floating for the first time. Remember, it gets easier and more natural to switch off the more you float, and floating will be all the more beneficial for you if you tend to have trouble ‘switching off’. Each float is different, and we recommend that you embrace whatever experience you have - just observing the thoughts you have with detached interest.
  • Can I wear a head cap to keep my hair dry?
Swimming caps or head caps don’t keep the water from coming into contact with your hair completely - so you will probably still need to wash it post-float to get the salt out. Wearing something on your head can also compromise the experience of a lack of sensation, so we recommend floating without one on if you can. But it’s entirely up to you!
  • What happens if I get salt in my eye?
If you get the water in your eye, it will sting. But don’t worry - there’s a spray bottle filled with fresh water inside each pod. Simply spray this into your eyes and the stinging will stop.
  • Will the salt dry out or damage my hair?
As long as you wash and condition your hair after each float, the magnesium in the Epsom salt could work to improve the condition of your hair and scalp, and not damage it.
  • Is there any risk of drowning?
Don’t worry, there’s no way you can drown - even if you tried! The high buoyancy of the water makes it impossible for you to sink beneath the surface.
  • Can I float with low or high blood pressure?
In some cases, floating can help to reduce high blood pressure however, please check with your doctor about floating if you suffer from low or high blood pressure.
  • Do I need to tell you about any health conditions?
Yes, please let us know about any health conditions. Most importantly, you should check with your doctor before floating.
